Heroes and Zeroes - April 3, 2007
Submitted by Lyn Wall on Tue, 04/03/2007 - 15:24.
I started this a few days ago, so it's not all timely. My apologies. I've been super busy wrapping up some peronsal stuff before I start my new job on Monday.
Heroes
- Tina Richards - Staged a sit-in in Nancy Pelosi's office.T ina's son is a Marine who has struggled to get any sort of health care out of the military. He recently thought he had finally succeeded in that effort, but the military has decided to prosecute him for wearing part of his uniform in a march on the Pentagon, meaning that he faces the loss of medical benefits and possible imprisonment.
Zeroes
- Microsoft - Did you ever talk trash about someone only to find out that they're within earshot? Remember that feeling in the pit of your stomach? This will make you feel like that wasn't the worst faux pas in the world. Someone at Microsoft sent a memo about how to handle a reporter to that reporter.
- William H. Osborne - Wrote a letter to the editor of the Houston Chronicle asserting that there is a positive side to slavery. "The people living in Africa today have extremely hard lives. All U.S. descendants of African slaves should actually be thankful that their ancestors were shipped here.". Following this logic, Jews should thank Hitler for the Holocaust and the Japanese people should thank us for obliterating Hiroshima and Nagasaki because the victims of these victims' descendents are better off than they would have been. Where would Christians be without the Crucifiction? (I guess this means my career ambition to blog for John Edwards is shot to hell)
- Matt Drudge - falsely claimed that CNN's Michael Ware heckled John McCain. Not that he probably wasn't thinking something really snarky, but he behaved himself.
- State Rep. Laubenberg - Had a little hissy fit at the Lege. Just watch.
Special Best Wishes
- Nick Lampson - Out of the hospital after quadruple bypass surgery.
Rest In Peace
- Mike Howard - City Councilwoman Toni Lawrence's chief of staff
