Heroes and Zeroes - April 6, 2007

Heroes
- Nancy Pelosi - I'm sure you've seen all of the MSM coverage of Nancy's trip to Syria. And the mixed messages sent by condemning a Democratic woman who happens to be third in line of succession to the presidency for visiting Syria when several Republican congressmen have also met with Syria. But this woman doesn't take this shit lying down. The Chicago Tribune points out that "Pelosi accurately conveyed Israel's position: should the Syrians end their support for Hezbollah and Hamas, then the Israelis would be willing to talk. Daly pointed out that Pelosi was briefed by State Department officials before her meetings with the foreign leaders and that State Department officials also attended her meetings. So if Pelosi really committed foreign policy flubs of the first order, the State Department is in a position to confirm as much."
Zeroes
- Dan Patrick - Boycotted the State Senate's opening prayer on April 3 because it was presented by Imam Yusuf Kavakci of Dallas, and included a reading from the Koran. Maybe he was just busy buying babies.
- Diebold - is suing Massachusetts because they didn't purchase their voting machines. I think I'll sue Diebold for not contracting me to build their web site. Hell, they didn't even ask me for a bid! I was going to design it so that the HTML code was encrypted and I was the only person in the world who could update it. Then I was going to leave the back end database open to hacking. Oh yeah, how could I forget all of the pop-up windows saying "Vote straight Democratic ticket". Any sleazy attorneys out there willing to take this case on contingency?
- The Edwards Campaign - responded to the emails of people wishing Elizabeth Edwards well in her fight against cancer, by replying with fund raising letters. I'm stunned.
- Monica Goodling - Tried to play with the big boys, but just couldn't hack it. CNN is just now reporting that she has resigned. (Meanwhile, her attorneys compared Conyers & Leahy to Joseph McCarthy.) Who could have seen that coming? It would be really to get into the heroes section, Monica. I know this is a foreign concept to a Bush administration flunkie, but try telling the truth. We'd love to hear it.
- Col. Jack Jacobs - called the British sailors "disgraceful". Commenters over at Little Green Footballs think the sailors are real pussies. Actually people who sit on their ass in their very safe homes and wokplaces and pass judgement on the courage of sailors caught up in a bad situation are pussies.
- Sergeant Marcia Ramode - an Army recruiter who upon learning that a candidate she initiated contact with is gay, responded with "You are definitely unqualified," wrote Ramode. "Now take you gay self [sic] back to someplace else we do not tolerate gay people like you in any part of the military."
