Heroes

• Friends of Al Gore - "have secretly started assembling a campaign team in preparation for the former American vice-president to make a fresh bid for the White House." This would take me out of the Anyone But Hillary, Biden, Dodd or Richardson" camp.

Zeroes

I really love my new job - I'm in geek heaven and the people I work with are all great. The biggest drawback is the sacrifice of blogging time. I hope to get a better handle on things so I can get some blogging done during the week.

• Melissa Noriega - is way out in front financially in the race for the City Council at large seat vacated by Shelley Sekula-Gibbs.
• Senfronia Thompson - fought to eliminate a really stupid provision in a bill that supposedly encouraged marriage education classes by raising the license fee for couples that choose not to take advantage of the having the state meddle in their marriage and making it free for those that do.
• John Whitmire - Listen all the way to the end to hear him bitchslap Dan Patrick

• Tina Richards - Staged a sit-in in Nancy Pelosi's office.T ina's son is a Marine who has struggled to get any sort of health care out of the military. He recently thought he had finally succeeded in that effort, but the military has decided to prosecute him for wearing part of his uniform in a march on the Pentagon, meaning that he faces the loss of medical benefits and possible imprisonment.

• Four Board Members of the American Conservative Union - quit because Tom DeLay was appointed to the board. Face it Tom, nobody likes you. I mean nobody. Nobody believes you. You're a nobody now.
• The University of Florida - denied Jeb Bush an honorary degree. The Senate chairwoman, Denaya Wright, said the nomination was a mistake, not just because some faculty members dislike Mr. Bush, a Republican who called himself “the education governor,” but also because he did not have the right background for an honorary degree.

• Firedoglake - fast becoming my favorite national blog. I love their take on the DLC.
• State Rep. Lon Burnham - (D) Introduced House Concurrent Resolution 154 which calls for the impeachment of the president. I know there are similar efforts in other state legislatures but it would be awesome if the first one to get to capitol hill was from Texas.

• Richard Morrison - who ran a strong campaign about then Leader DeLay in 2004 has begun a Draft Noriega to draft Richard Noriega to run against John Cornyn in 2008. Just for grins, I'd rather see Cornyn run against a box turtle, but if his opponent must be human, Noriega looks good to me. As Hal at Half Empty reports, the launch was forced earlier than planned thanks to Kos and Turn Texas Blue.
• State Senator Rodney Ellis - has rounded up the votes to block the Republican voter suppresion, I mean ID bill.
• Sinbad - not dead. He survived death by wikipedia.

• The VA Nurse - who failed to visit patients and listed dead patient as 'stable'. No name has been released yet.
• Victoria Toensing - Yes, we know you played at Barry Goldwater's knees as a young attorney, but when the CIA directory says Valerie Plame was covert, that's a fact, not an opinion. Oh, and I know it's a woman's perogative to lie about her age, but not when you're under oath. You weren't 25 when you helped write the Inteligence Identites Protection Act, no amount of botox can amke it so. Has anyone every been prosecuted for perjury about their own age? I only recently started being er less than honest about my age. It's only because the men I meet all seem to be so much younger than me. Why spoil their fun?
• Alberto Gonzales - exchanged emails with Karl Rove discussing the upcoming prosecutor purge
• Albert Mohler - discusses how you can tell if your unborn baby is gay and what you can do about it. It's human nature for straight people to be curious about homosexuality and a little uncomfortable with that curiousity. It is not normal to be as obsessed with homosexuality as most of these right wing nuts who feel the need to write about it on a daily basis. But you knew that..
• Hillary - chose the one major city without an anti-war protest today to mark the 4th anniversary of the Iraq invasion. Coinicidence? I think not.
• Khalid Sheikh Mohammed - He planned 9/11, killed Daniel Pearl, planned the attempted assassination of the Pope, kidnapped the Lindbergh baby, put the iceberg in the way of the Titanic, outed Valerie Plame, fired the 8 US attorneys, set last year's wild fires, approved Vioxx, flooded New Orleans, betrayed Jesus to the Romans and gave Eve that damn apple. Maybe now the Republicans can stop blaming Bill Clinton for everything (except NAFTA).
• Texas Youth Commission Board - ousted yesterday. Don't let the door hit you........
• John McCain - can't be bothered standing up for non-custodial parents' rights. He acutally said, and later apologized for saying, "But for me to stand here before all these people and say that I’m going declare divorces invalid because someone feels that they weren’t treated fairly in court, we are getting into a, uh, uh, tar baby of enormous proportions". Not because he was unsympathetic to a citizen's concerns, but using the phrase tar baby. Who even thinks of a term like that when they're campaignng?
• The Faux News Reporter - who got his panties in a twist because a soldier didn't want to interview with him because of Faux News' politics. Support the troops, unless they're a motherf*&ing Democrat and aren't afraid to say so. What is Faux News doing in Iraq anyway? Isn't Anna Nicole still dead?

• Thom Hartmann - Yesterday he called a so called pro-life advocate part of the "Forced Pregnancy" movement. What a great way to frame it!

Zeroes

• Ann Coulter - called John Edwards' a faggot. It's a good thing that I'm too well mannered to repeat rumours that Ann Coulter is, in fact, a man. I'm just saying, when your adam's apple is bigger than your boobs, it's hard to convince people you're female.

• State Rep John Davis - had an epiphany, too little too late. CHIP is good. Children should be covered by health insurance. Of course, he was one of the proponents of making it tougher to enroll in CHIP. Garnet Coleman thinks the change of heart "has more to do with the political fates of former legislators such as Talmadge Heflin and Martha Wong after they voted to cut the CHIP program.". Rick Casey thinks that "Having recently been found to have filed improper campaign expenses, Davis now has a heightened appreciation of how difficult these paperwork issues can be." Whatever the reason, it is self serving. He was against insuring the children before he was for it.

• Tucker Carlson - It's my fault for watching his show last night. And for not switching channels when he called MoveOn.org a bunch of "haters". But saying that all bloggers are sitting in their pajamas in their mothers' basement blogging is just wrong. I'm in my very own living room blogging in my pajamas. My mom doesn't even have a basement.
